Purpose & Scope
This webinar, jointly organised by TEF Agrifood and EDIH DATAlife with the participation of ILVO (Instituut voor Landbouw-, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek), introduces the concept of data spaces and their role in the European data economy. It clarifies the difference between simple data sharing and a data space initiative, presents the European Data Strategy and its five key regulations (Data Governance Act, Data Act, Digital Markets Act, Digital Services Act and AI Act), and describes how the Common European Agricultural Data Space (CEADS) is being built. Real cases such as DjustConnect show how farmers, data providers and data users can exchange data safely while keeping control over it. The session also explains the services an EDIH can offer SMEs and public bodies engaging in data-driven innovation, from strategic guidance and training to technical infrastructure and support with compliance.
Learning objectives
By the end of the training, participants will be able to: define what a data space is and distinguish it from simple data sharing; identify the main EU regulations shaping the European data economy (the “Big Five”); and describe how an EDIH can support their organisation in adopting fair and secure data-sharing practices, illustrated through the DjustConnect and CEADS use cases.
Learning outcomes
After the training, participants can: explain the DSSC (Data Spaces Support Centre) definition of a data space; list the EU’s “Big Five” data-related regulations (Data Governance Act, Data Act, Digital Markets Act, Digital Services Act, AI Act); describe at least one real data-sharing initiative in the agri-food sector (e.g. DjustConnect); and identify the type of support an EDIH can offer them (guidance and strategy, capacity building, use-case development, technical infrastructure, and compliance and trust frameworks).
