Laboratory for transport simulation

Transportation simulation testing serves to evaluate the behaviour of both the product and its packaging when subjected to various constraints associated with the distribution cycle. The objective is to replicate the most unfavourable conditions a product may encounter during handling, storage, and transport in order to guarantee its integrity up to final delivery.

Description

The laboratory uses state-of-the-art testing platforms to simulate mechanical shocks, vibrations, drops, compressions, and and temperature and humidity variations, as well as multi-axis movement sequences. These simulations are based on real-world transport profiles and international testing standards (such as ISTA, ASTM, and ISO). Beyond standard compliance, the laboratory enables custom testing campaigns tailored to specific logistics environments, including last-mile delivery, air or sea freight, or agro-food cold chains. High-precision instrumentation allows for continuous monitoring of stress levels and structural responses. This infrastructure is essential for industries where product robustness, packaging efficiency, and customer satisfaction are tightly linked, such as agri-food, medical devices, electronics, and consumer goods.

What could be offered through this facility?

- Audit and advice on packaging and logistics flows,
- Cost optimisation / reduction of packaging materials,- Packaging qualification for Amazon (ISTA-6-Amazon.com),
- Simulation in road, air, and rail modes through the use of specific tests, namely random vibrations, sine wave vibrations (fixed frequency), shocks (half sine wave, trapezoidal, SRC, etc.),falls, compression, cyclic tensile loading, climate-specific packaging, pressure rises and drops due to altitude, material handling tests, qualification/characterisation of stretchable film, technical advice, expertise, and guidance.
