DATA and AI ACT: Understanding and Implementing the EU AI Regulation language

Purpose & Scope

  • Presentation of the EU AI Act framework and its practical implications for the agrifood sector. The training covers the regulatory structure, risk classification system, compliance requirements, and specific obligations for different stakeholders. Participants will gain understanding of how the AI Act affects AI development, deployment, and testing in agriculture and food processing.
  • The training includes an overview of prohibited AI practices, high-risk AI systems, transparency requirements, and conformity assessment procedures. Special attention is given to agrifood-specific applications and how agrifoodTEF can support companies in achieving compliance
  • A selection of services and resources available through agrifoodTEF nodes to support AI Act compliance will also be presented, including documentation templates, testing infrastructure, and expert consultations. 

Learning objectives

  • Understand the structure and key requirements of the EU AI Act.
  • Identify which AI systems fall under different risk categories (prohibited, high-risk, limited risk, minimal risk).
  • Recognize compliance obligations for AI providers, deployers, and distributors in the agrifood sector.
  • Have a good understanding of how agrifoodTEF can support companies in AI Act implementation and compliance testing.consultations. 

Learning outcomes

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Assess whether their AI solutions are subject to AI Act regulations and determine the applicable risk category.
  • Explain to SMEs and stakeholders what compliance requirements apply to their AI systems.
  • Navigate the documentation and conformity assessment processes required by the AI Act.
  • Get points of contact with relevant partners within the agrifoodTEF consortium to access compliance support services.
  • Understand the timelines and deadlines for AI Act implementation.
