How it works
Do you have a need for reliable testing, validation or benchmarking for your agrifood technology? Working with the agrifoodTEF Belgian Node begins with an intake call to understand your needs and define clear testing objectives. We then create a tailored testing plan outlining the scope, timeline, and protocols. After confirming eligibility and confidentiality, you gain access to our facilities and expertise under subsidised conditions.
Implementation is flexible, you may test setups independently or collaborate with our experts in fields, stables, or pilot plants. Testing occurs under controlled, real-life, or hybrid conditions, either on-site or at your location. Data is independently analysed and documented to provide clear validation evidence. When relevant, we also connect you to additional expertise across the EU agrifoodTEF network.

Who we are and what we do
The agrifoodTEF Belgian Node, coordinated by ILVO, supports AgrifoodTech companies from start-ups to established players by reducing innovation risk through independent testing. As a neutral partner, we specialise in the validation of AI-based technologies in real-life environments, including crop fields, greenhouses, and livestock settings. Our services generate reliable evidence on system performance, data quality, and operational readiness.
By combining deep agricultural expertise with advanced technological know-how, we help companies test solutions in realistic environments. Our infrastructure features robotic testbeds, sensors, and digital facilities designed to deliver actionable validation results. Ultimately, the Belgian Node provides the technical foundation needed to support market entry, investment, and scaling decisions across the European food system.
