Overview
Field testing of IoT prototypes to monitor soil features and comparison to research-grade sensors FEM will support companies developing IoT solutions, e.g., irrigation scheduling solutions, either by collecting ground-truth data or by comparing the results of the algorithm with their own models. The areas in which FEM is active concern irrigation scheduling, frost alerts, phenology, crop water stress identification, etc. These activities will be supported by the FEM Campus facilities, research-grade weather station data, high-performance computing machines, and LoRaWAN technology for data transmission.
More about the service
How can the service help you?
FEM researchers and technologists have years of experience in several fields and can support customers in both the collection and modelling of field data. Customers will be supported in the parameterisation of irrigation models, which requires the study of soil type, collection of field and plant water status data, and, finally, modelling activities.
How the service will be delivered
Field activities at FEM’s experimental facilities will be concentrated during the growing season (April-October). Data, models, and reports will be provided digitally.
Service customisation
Requirements and feasibility of services will be assessed individually.
