CoordinaTEF, the European hub linking Testing and Experimentation Facilities, has published an article on Futurium highlighting the role of agrifoodTEF in supporting the adoption of Artificial Intelligence across Europe’s agri-food sector. 
As a platform managed by the European Commission, Futurium provides a high-level space for discussion and dissemination of initiatives that contribute to key EU priorities, including food security, sustainability and technological sovereignty, a context that reinforces the strategic relevance of agrifoodTEF within the European AI and agri-food landscape. 

The article presents agrifoodTEF as a concrete response to one of the main challenges facing the sector: how to deploy AI solutions that are not only innovative, but also safe, reliable and aligned with European values and regulations, enabling companies and innovators to test and validate AI systems under real-world conditions. 
Particular attention is devoted to the fact that, through its services, agrifoodTEF supports a wide range of use cases, from precision farming and crop monitoring to quality control, traceability and risk management. At the same time, it helps address critical barriers to AI uptake, such as data variability, operational constraints and regulatory requirements. Testing activities go beyond performance, covering key aspects such as robustness, safety, transparency and compliance with the AI Act

Along the same lines, the publication highlights agrifoodTEF’s broader role in strengthening the European AI ecosystem in agriculture. By connecting research centres, industry players and public authorities, and by providing access to advanced testing infrastructures at reduced cost, the project helps bridge the gap between innovation and market deployment, especially for SMEs and startups. 
Real-world experimentation is a core element of this approach. The article showcases the example of AgroWizard, where computer vision tools have significantly increased productivity (10,000 trees per hour) and reduced manual effort, while also improving data security through edge computing.
