How it works
Companies contact the agrifoodTEF Dutch Node through a single-entry point to present their AI or robotics solution and validation needs. In an initial discussion, we clarify objectives, maturity levels, and regulatory aspects, then identify the most suitable expertise, facilities, and datasets within the agrifoodTEF network. Together, we define the use case, testing objectives, and service scope, after which a tailored test and experimentation plan is prepared and approved.
Once contracted, validation is carried out in real, controlled, simulated, or digital environments at our facilities or the company’s preferred location. Data and performance metrics are systematically collected, independently analysed, and documented. Users receive a clear validation report with recommendations to support market readiness, investment, certification, or scaling, with follow-up support available where relevant.

Who we are and what we do
The agrifoodTEF Dutch Node brings together a strong coalition of research institutes, universities, innovation hubs, and industry partners committed to accelerating trustworthy AI and robotics in agriculture and food production. Coordinated by Wageningen University & Research, the Node combines deep scientific expertise with extensive field, greenhouse, and controlled environment testing facilities.
The Node addresses challenges in high-tech and nature-inclusive farming, including precision crop management, greenhouse automation, sensor integration, data governance, and AI-driven decision support. Leveraging a strong agri-tech ecosystem of growers and technology developers, it provides a comprehensive testing and upscaling environment. This ensures innovative solutions are successfully deployed within the complex realities of Dutch and European agrifood systems.
