Digital Future Farm: Digital Twin for arable and dairy farming

The Digital Future Farm (DFF) project is driving the next generation of farm management with Digital Twin technology and AI-powered decision support. At the Agro-Innovation Centre De Marke in Hengelo, Wageningen University & Research (WUR) hosted an ELSA workshop to explore the ethical, legal, and societal dimensions of the technology. DFF connects validated models with real-time farm data via the open-source MODCOM framework and integrates farm data spaces through the FarmMaps platform. Collaborating with the agrifoodTEF Dutch Node, the project ensures responsible and scalable digital innovation for sustainable farming.

QZ Solutions, a Polish technology company, is advancing precision agriculture with its SoilEO system, which uses hyperspectral imaging and AI algorithms to map soil nutrient content and optimise fertilisation strategies. To improve the accuracy of its models, QZ Solutions collaborated with agrifoodTEF Polish Node. The support included access to benchmark datasets and enriched annotations, enabling validation and optimisation of the SoilEO algorithms. This collaboration accelerates SoilEO’s market readiness and strengthens its potential impact on sustainable farming practices.

XiniX AI’s soft robot gears up for safer, smarter food inspections

XiniX AI ApS, a Danish robotics startup, is redefining food inspection with ‘Sprout’ - a soft, flexible robot designed to squeeze into hard-to-reach spaces. Supported by agrifoodTEF Danish Node through the Danish Technological Institute (DTI), the company is testing and validating Sprout’s capabilities in realistic environments to ensure reliability and safety. Recent mechanical upgrades, including a new retraction system and advanced sensor integration, have enhanced Sprout’s readiness for industrial trials and future adoption in food production settings.
