Description

The IoT & Cyber-Physical Measurement Systems laboratory of CeSMA carries out research and service activities towards third parties through the experimentation and development of measurement systems, which allow advanced
interaction approaches, enabled thanks to the most recent interfacing, communication and information representation solutions.

The measurement systems at the laboratory are conceived as cyber-physical measurement systems (CPMS), where the traditional methodological approach is integrated and enhanced by the use of new paradigms: thanks to innovative modelling/virtualisation methods, made possible by increasingly high-performance computing systems, CPMS systems develop and exploit the digital twin of the physical system.

The CPMS developed at the laboratory therefore enhances the potential of IoT sensors and instrumentation for sensing, data storage and communication functions, and the possibilities of edge computing for the introduction of embedded artificial intelligence.

The laboratory promotes innovation, with a strong focus on Green Technology issues.

What could be offered through this facility?

It is a plain field suitable for testing any AI and/or digital solution for field crops, such as tests of robot-based weeding systems, blockchain-based certified water consumption, precision irrigation systems, precision fertilisation systems, precision pest control and more.
