The service provider offers to conduct a comprehensive analysis of the product innovation in terms of the applicable provisions of the European Union law required to prepare the CE declaration of conformity required when introducing the product to the single market of the European Union. The service consists of identifying the NLF Directives and Regulations (including LVD, EMC, RED, Machinery, and RoHS) applicable to the assessed innovation and identifying the essential requirements resulting from them. The final product of the service is a detailed report with a compliance matrix (essential requirements vs. standardised technical requirements, including, e.g., applied harmonised standards) and a complete template of the declaration of conformity, ready for use by the manufacturer.

Testing a system in a physical environment requires an environment that has been prepared and set up to support the specific testing activities to be executed. This service supports the customer in the execution of the tests by taking care of such preparation and setup.

The service involves:

• agronomic preparation: e.g., providing the required soil conditions, making sure that a given in-field configuration of specific plants at a given growth stage is available at the time of testing, and so on.
• technical preparation: e.g., setting up infrastructure elements such as RTK GPS base stations, environmental sensors, power and networking, as well as the computational environment required to interface with the system under test to acquire and possibly pre-process experimental data.

If AgrifoodTEF facilities are involved in the experimental activities, the service also includes configuring the testing facility accordingly.

Environment preparation is done according to an environment design provided by the customer. If needed, such a design can be done by AgrifoodTEF for the customer via Service S00106.

Interested customers can get support from AgrifoodTEF for the entire pipeline involved in experimental testing, from the design of its other elements besides the environment (namely, the testing protocol via service S00107 and the evaluation metrics via service S00108) to test execution (service S00113), data collection (service S00113), and evaluation (S00114).

The output of Service S00110 is the environment ready for the execution of the testing campaign at the time requested by the customer.

Providing demonstration testing on the test field of robotic or AI-driven solutions

As part of the service, a testbed will be provided for product demonstration of robotic machines along with AI systems. The polygon will be configured and prepared to meet the customer's individual needs in terms of field operations, technological processes, and communication. The service provider will provide polygons with a variety of surfaces according to the customer's specifications, e.g., meadow, ploughed field. The service will include soil moisture control, continuous monitoring of the field, and all activities carried out on it. The service providers will provide the necessary assistance and infrastructure needed to support the fieldwork carried out by the surveyed sites. The service may also involve demonstration of AI systems used in apiaries.

Within the service we provide: - remote access to the disc space, allowing for safe storage of data (e.g., from sensors, photos from specialised cameras, weather data, satellite data, archive historical crop yields, etc.). - Depending on the needs, the available disc space can range from several gigabytes to tens, if not hundreds, of terabytes. - The stored data may be used directly by the customer or may be used in other services (this refers to using data for AI/ML model training, testing and validation for applications such as precision farming, yield prediction and pest detection). - The ability to store both structured (e.g., CSV, SQL) and unstructured data (e.g., images, videos)

The service provides access to data streams collected from equipment tested by other services or using specially installed sensor or camera arrays in specific test environments. It includes the provision of data streams from sensors and cameras installed to meet specific customer needs in agreed areas and tailored to work in these specific locations. Such areas are, for example, fields, orchards, vineyards, forests, or specific locations such as farms, barns, or warehouses. Furthermore, the service includes access to corrections from local RTK stations and meteorological station data. In this way, it provides comprehensive and reliable data access support for a variety of customer requirements.

Support for testing safety devices for safe obstacle avoidance by autonomous vehicles

Our service offers to provide specialised support for evaluating the behaviour of a self-moving robot or autonomous vehicle. As part of the service, the equipment and control systems will be verified for the maintenance of operational safety rules by analysing the correctness of stopping in front of obstacles. For this purpose, an advanced testing methodology based on the provisions of ISO 18497 will be used. During the tests, specialised equipment will be used to control the maintenance of the linearity of vehicle travel. Support will be tailored to the customer's needs in terms of providing the required control equipment and elements necessary for proper testing, such as model obstacles. These activities lead to increased automation efficiency and precision of controlled objects in agricultural applications.

This service helps you understand where your AI-powered product, system, or software stands in terms of technological maturity. We conduct a basic, yet structured evaluation of your solution—including physical testing of selected components and general system behaviour—to identify its current development stage and key areas that need improvement. We also assess the quality of documentation, system architecture, and software implementation. For example, when evaluating an apple-picking robot, we assess the readiness and integration of its core subsystems: the gripper mechanism, robotic arm kinematics and control, and the vision system responsible for detecting ripe fruit. We analyse areas where current solutions can be improved or require some redesign and whether the robot as a whole can effectively perform “scene ”cleaning”—removing ripe apples while preserving unripe ones and the plant structure. Based on our findings, we prepare a clear roadmap and a development plan with recommendations for the next steps, which may include further testing or refinement through other agrifoodTEF services. As part of the process, we also confirm the current Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of each major component. The outcome helps you focus your R&D work and understand what is still required to move your solution closer to full deployment and commercial readiness.

Test and validate intelligent solutions based on sensors to optimise livestock farming

The service validates that the tested solution performs as expected by the vendor or manufacturer. The objective is to detect potential mistakes in the sensor readings, the processing of the signal gathered by the sensor or in the intelligent component deriving the final information to be provided to the user to optimise livestock farming . The test can be performed at sensor or application level. The tests and validation can be performed in a laboratory or in an experimental pig farm equipped with automatic and manual measures of different variables (feed, water, CO2, NH3, temperature, ventilation, liveweight, etc.)

Testbed preparation will enable costumers to execute physical tests of their technology/machines/algorithms in line with their expectations. 

Within this service, costumers might get a well prepared flat/slopped arable lands or permanent grasslands. 

We can also prepare a land with "controlled rain conditions" or a dump ground. There is also a possibility of providing and preparation of apiary or a sprinkler for software testing. We can help costumers run physical experiments by preparing a cultivated/non-cultivated fields or run tests on test plots, specially designed for testing. Within the latter, we will take care of such elements like: soil preparation, seed/plant procurement, seeding/planting, plant growth management,  preparation of technical infrastructure. All this to meet your needs to ensure optimal conditions for conducting and monitoring tests.

This service can be executed in fields with various area with system of weather stations, phenological stations and ICT infrastructure. We can also prepare costumers sets of data collected for these areas like archive cultivated plants, treatments, crops, etc.

Testing and validation of autonomous agricultural vehicle trajectory control systems for safety compliance

The service evaluates how a self-moving autonomous robot or vehicle maintains a predefined and AI-controlled trajectory, providing specialised support for this assessment. As a core part of this service, devices and control systems are verified for their adherence to work safety principles. This verification includes analysing the correctness of maintaining the preset trajectory and stopping before the defined limits of the work surface. To achieve this, an advanced testing methodology based on ISO 18497 provisions is utilised, along with specialised equipment to control the vehicle's track maintenance. The support provided is tailored to the customer's specific needs, including preparing the test site according to requirements and providing necessary control equipment and components for proper testing.
