This service provides a user-friendly interface to test, validate, alidate and experiment with agronomic models. The service uses the Wageningen digital infrastructure Agro Data Services Layer, and the application environment Farmmaps is built on top of the ADSL infrastructure. Users can access their farm data (www.farmmaps.eu). Data can be added manually or imported via links with other systems (e.g. farm management systems). Within Farmmaps, farm data is linked with other available data, e.g. weather data, satellite data and height maps. All data is stored in a personal farm data space. Users can add apps to their personal account which transform data into advice, insights, or management recommendations. These apps have different owners and other parties or companies can also offer apps on the Farmmaps platform. They utilise the base layer with all its components (user management, security and data connections), thereby focusing on the app content (advice module or model) itself. Furthermore, all apps on the platform are accessible via an API for integration with external platforms. This allows users to access the knowledge available without needing to log in to another platform. The result of the wide spectrum in already connected possible data sources and existing libraries of algorithms a agronomic model owner can focus on improving the model rather than spending a lot of time on creating and maintaining data connections and (daily) manual data uploading downloaded from external farm management systems.
How can the service help you?
Robotic and software companies have many agronomic models in development. They also want to use machine data and robotic data in their decision support models and to teach their AI real-world contexts. In a local lab environment, the model is developed on its own clean, independent computers. As soon as you need (daily) real-world farm data, international weather or government data, or even data from intelligent machines, you want to connect your model as easily as possible to these data sources to find out if the model also works outside the lab setting.
This offered service gives you a head start in trying your model with real world data. You can start unsupervised but you can also book support hours.
Machine and software companies projects or startups can offer their knowledge, algorithm result in the Data Services Layer for other machine and software developers use it in their own automation and decision efforts. This can be through an API or as an app you can develop your own and publish it This way you can skip the hassle of setting up a own platform with user management, security and data connections etc and still make your model available to company subsidiaries in other regions and other machine and software developers.
How the service will be delivered
The service is delivered year round. The service is entirely digital and operates through the global platform www.farmmaps.eu,which is part of the Wageningen University and Research digital infrastructure. So there are no location-based restrictions; it can be used from anywhere with an internet connection. This service consists of data. Historical data is available. For the current growing season there will be new data on a daily base.
Service customisation
There are options for customization, according to the needs of the customer.
