AgrifoodTEF is a network of test and experimentation infrastructures in Europe that supports Agri-Food technology companies to do near product validation of their AI and Robotics solutions, using real-world facilities. In this material we are presenting the Austrian node. In order to meet the requirements of sustainable small-scale farming, the agrifoodTEF Austrian node tests and supports advanced AI and robotics solutions with a focus on organic farming as well as grassland and alpine farming. The core competencies of the three partners of the Austrian consortium are in the fields of data science, robotics, measurement and sensor technologies for arable farming and grassland as well as livestock farming.
agrifoodTEF hosted its first introductory webinar on 18 December 2024. The event was designed to foster knowledge-sharing and offer valuable resources for agrifood stakeholders. Participants were provided with a thorough overview of agrifoodTEF's mission, services, and support systems designed to drive sustainable productivity advancements through AI and robotics. Our facilitators and experts delivered an engaging session to guide participants through the essential aspects of agrifoodTEF, illustrating how the project supports technology adoption in agritech. The full details of the event can be found of the official event page.
In November, the agrifoodTEF partner Wageningen University and Research (WUR) hosted the first internal webinar on Business Modelling and Market Analysis. The main goal of this internal webinar (open only to project's partners) is to support nodes on business modelling, by relating basics of the business model canvas to the context of TEFs.
This session, which marks the first in the "Bridging the gap in technology adoption in agriculture"- Webinar series, focuses on bridging adoption gaps in agricultural technology by exploring the role of mobile robots as autonomous machines in French agriculture. It builds upon discussions initiated during previous training webinars held at the beginning of 2025, offering a deeper dive into the practical assessment and deployment of autonomous robotics in real-world farming environments. This webinar, aimed at EDIHs and technology companies, presents real-world insights and test results issued from services delivered by agrifoodTEF in France. It showcases how mobile autonomous robots are being evaluated for deployment in French agriculture - from laboratory testing to field trials in viticulture and arable farming.
This webinar offered practical insights into how data spaces are already being applied in the agri-food sector — and what role they can play in enabling secure, efficient, and cross-border data sharing. Organised within the framework of agrifoodTEF, with contributions from the Flemish and Spanish nodes, this session introduces the basic concepts of European data spaces and highlights their value through a real-world example: DjustConnect, the local operational data space in Flanders. It also explores how EDIHs can support businesses and public actors in engaging with data sharing initiatives. Participants will see real-life examples of cross-border data exchange from Belgium, France, and Finland, and get a glimpse of the future of Common European Agricultural Data Spaces.
