NIRS Infrastructure

The University of Córdoba's infrastructure includes state-of-the-art NIRS (Near-Infrared Spectroscopy) equipment, which is crucial for the characterisation and validation of various agri-food products and services. NIRS technology allows for non-destructive, rapid analysis of product composition, enabling precise categorisation of foods based on factors like moisture, protein, or fat content. This technology is indispensable for validating the quality, safety, and compliance of agri-food products in real time.

Description

Among the available NIRS equipment are portable and benchtop instruments, such as the FT-NIR NeoSpectra and Perten DA-7000, which can analyse liquids, solids, and other samples both in the field and in industrial settings. Additionally, hyperspectral cameras, including the XENICS and Headwall Photonics models, provide detailed spectral data for in-depth analysis. The inclusion of robotic arms and conveyor belts further enhances automation in product testing, allowing for high-throughput analysis at industrial scales. This advanced NIRS infrastructure is vital for the agrifood sector, enabling precise, efficient validation of products, optimising production processes, and ensuring consistency in quality control.
