AI Agrifood 2026

International Scientific Congress on Artificial Intelligence in the Agri-Food System

This international scientific congress on AI in the Agri-Food System is organised by the University of Cordoba (one of the agrifoodTEF partners), through its International International Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Agriculture (CIIAA), the Instituto Andaluz de Investigación y Formación Agraria, Pesquera, Alimentaria y de la Producción Ecológica (IFAPA) and the Instituto de Agricultura Sostenible IAS-CSIC. The CIIAA is a university–industry chair comprising the University of Cordoba and its partner companies Hispatec, Fertinagro, xFarm and Deuser.

Rationale behind this conference

The digital transition of the agri-food sector holds immense promise for enhancing productivity and resilience. However, technology is not an end in itself. To ensure a truly sustainable digital transition, we must look beyond technical optimisation. This Congress seeks to address the dual challenge: building the infrastructure, such as data, algorithms, and hardware, necessary for AI to optimise farming and food supply chains; and creating policies and resources that empower stakeholders to accelerate both agricultural innovation and AI development, improving food system resilience, and bringing technological advances closer to the sector and markets to solve real problems. We aim to bridge the gap between data science and systemic sustainability, ensuring that the future of farming and food processing is not only smart but also wise, inclusive and market-ready.

Target audience

  • Researchers in agricultural sciences, food engineering and technology, economics, social sciences and computer sciences.
  • PhD students and postdoctoral researchers.
  • R&D managers in the agri-food industry.
  • Executives and technicians from technology companies (AgriTech and agri-food companies).
  • Policy makers.

Main objectives

  • To consolidate a leading international scientific forum for the advanced analysis of Artificial Intelligence application across the entire agri-food system (agriculture and food industry).
  • To present and debate the latest scientific and methodological advances, from precision farming to Industry 4.0 in food processing.
  • To promote interdisciplinary research that explores the synergies and trade-offs inherent in the digital transformation of the supply chain.
  • To guide the development of a future research agenda ensuring a robust, sustainable, and ethical application of AI in the agri-food sector.
  • To bridge the gap between scientific advances and the market, facilitating the transfer of AI solutions to the productive sector to solve real-world problems.
