BIOmesh develops advanced AI- and IoT-enabled solutions for monitoring conditions and managing risk in food storage and post-harvest supply chains. Its solutions support agrifood operators and logistics teams through early risk detection, anomaly monitoring, and stronger traceability. BIOmesh engaged with agrifoodTEF to strengthen both the technical and regulatory maturity of its systems and to prepare them for secure, real-world deployment in line with evolving EU requirements.

The challenge
BIOmesh needed to better understand how EU rules, especially the AI Act and Data Act, affect AI- and data-driven agrifood solutions, while also establishing a practical cybersecurity baseline. For BIOmesh and its customers, trust, traceability, and food safety are critical. As the company scaled its internal processes, it needed support in interpreting security-assessment results, structuring documentation, and identifying the governance measures required for market readiness.
The agrifoodTEF service
BIOmesh used two starter services: "Legal Starter - initial legal assessment for AI Act and Data Act", and "Security Starter - initial cybersecurity assessment".
The work covered mapping the product's data ecosystem, discussing risk classification under the AI Act, and performing basic cybersecurity scans of selected ICT components. agrifoodTEF experts then helped interpret the findings and provided a tailored compliance checklist, concise legal guidance, and practical consultations on governance and technical good practices.

The impact
